Each summer following their sophomore year, Kenan Scholars complete hands-on internships that put their skills and knowledge to work for the public good. Completion of these experiences culminates in the annual Kenan Scholars Public Sector Showcase. This event provides each scholar the opportunity to present on their experiences and offers friends and supporters of the Kenan Scholars program (including Board of Mentors, Kenan-Flagler faculty and staff and internship supervisors) the ability to see the impact Kenan Scholars are making across the globe.

Irredell County free clinic provides non-narcotic prescriptions, chiropractic care, health and wellness education, medical services.

The Southeastern Wind Coalition: SEWC is a nonprofit that uses a data-driven and economic-focused approach to help the Southeast take advantage of wind opportunities.

Born in Summer 2021, Campaign X Co. is an evolution of campaign consulting emerging from Chadderdon Lestingi Creative Strategies. Their team combines the legacy of impactful direct mail creative with a groundbreaking, scientific, and data-driven approach to political targeting and strategies.

Internship Overview: Worked as the first point of contact for constituents and guests in two Congressional Offices.

Striving to foster initiatives throughout the southeastern United States, Cleantech Corner highlights SMEs and startups that are dedicated to furthering a sustainable future. By increasing the visibility of such companies, our team attempts to accelerate innovation and build an interconnected community of cleantech pioneers.

To partner with our members in Illinois and Wisconsin to provide them competitively priced funding, a reasonable return on their investment in the Bank, and support for their community investment activities.

The Center for Sustainable Enterprise promotes action to accelerate progress in social and environmental sustainability through innovative business solutions. This summer, our work focused on curating resources and programs around blended
finance for achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs)

Mission: Scholarship is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that is designed to provide equitable access to high-quality college and scholarship application preparedness resources for underserved students.

This summer, I worked as an intern in the disaster relief group at the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and development. Our primary focus was distributing funds to individuals and businesses affected by earthquakes. In my time at HBOR, ~999K EUR of credits were finalized.

The Washington Institute is a nonprofit based in Washington, D.C. with a presence in Oxford, Paris, and Singapore. They were established to serve as a bridge between business, government, and society, and has been named one of the world's top 50 thinktanks by the Lauder Institute of UPenn.

Public private partnerships are vital for the innovation economy in North Carolina.

Internship Duties: Analyze exisitng use of Salesforce CRM across all programs in anticipation of trasnfer to Kenan Institute Salesforce, Segment/filter contacts pre-transfer, and collaborate to facilitate a successful transfer of data, Provide general support to all Eship Center staff and associated programs/initiatives

Debbie Horwitz, Susan Romaine, and Christine Cotton founded PORCH Communities with a simple vision: collecting weekly food donations from neighborhoods in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro area.

There are 3 takeaways from our competitor analysis: 1. There is a gap disability inclusion programs, 2. Digital literacy for SMEs is a growth area, 3. Government partnerships are important.

What drives ATS: To prepare under-resourced youth for life’s financial challenges so that money isn’t an obstacle to fulfilling their aspirations
To enhance the perspective of core financial philosophies and principles within young minds so that they possess a brighter outlook on financial literacy.

From this experience, I learned the power of storytelling as a means to connect diverse communities and empower young people towards promising futures.

Mapping global climate stories and impact investing strategies

Internship Overview: The Center for Sustainable Enterprise is a think tank at UNC Kenan-Flagler's Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise that studies sustainability and the "triple bottom line". Support CSE's India Impact Challenge, which aims to encourage sustainable solutions and impact investing in India. Work as a specialist in finance and data science to create materials for the promotion of the India Impact Challenge.

Key internship objectives and components: Develop a branding guide, Advance a powerful social media strategy, Create and facilitate meaningful outreach methods, Research blended finance to construct educational resources.

An initiative by Governor Roy Cooper, Hometown Strong works with both the public and private sector to meet the needs of local communities.
