Class of 2024 Shares Summer Impact at the Annual Public Sector Showcase

In the summer following sophomore year, Kenan Scholars participate in practical internships in the public sector to gain cross-sector experience and use their knowledge and skills to solve real-world issues. During the annual Kenan Scholars Public Sector Showcase, scholars inspire friends and supporters of the program by providing an overview of their experiences and the impact made locally, nationally and abroad.

This year’s virtual showcase was divided into five sessions. Each session featured incredible presentations from the Kenan Scholars Class of 2024 covering a wide range of topics, such as vaccine equity, affordable housing and healthcare access. Presenters highlighted the mission and goals of the organization they collaborated with, their internship role and responsibilities, and the most valuable lessons learned from the experience. These experiences connected well with the Undergraduate Business Program’s emphasis on experiential learning, and their presentations engaged the Kenan-Flager community through visual graphics and well-structured presentations.

This event was an excellent opportunity for the UNC community to see the positive influence Kenan Scholars are making outside of the classroom. More information (including presentation infographics) on the Kenan Scholars Public Sector Internship experience can be found here on the program’s website.
